The Healing Touch
The Healing Touch
By: Ann Stewart

Touch is of utmost importance in the healing process. Whether you’re down with the ‘flu or lying sick in a hospital bed, the one thing you crave most is a gentle touch, a warm hug, a mother’s kiss on the sore spot with the assurance that it is all better. Yet, you are so often caught up with mixed emotions, like “I have the flu; I better not hug anyone.” Let me share a story of a woman who was actually banned from society and as she was considered “unclean” according to the health law and custom of her day.

This lady had a bleeding condition for years and, after spending all her money on doctors, there was no hope left. But... she had heard of Jesus and how “he healed all that were sick.” (mat. 8:16; luke 8: 45- 49) She had only one thing on her mind. She knew that she knew that she knew she would get healed. If only she could somehow break through the throngs of people following Him and get close to Him, she was convinced that she would receive her healing. She knew that she could be stoned to death for approaching anyone in her present condition. In fact, she was required to wear special clothing that set her apart so that everyone would know she was unclean. Giving no thought to the fear that was in her mind, she had only one goal, and that was to get her healing. Crawling low through the crowd, she strained and reached with all the strength left in her, all the while saying to herself: “if I may but touch the hem of his garment, I shall be whole.” Over and over she repeated those words out loud. They empowered her to greater and greater faith. She saw in her mind’s eye, and heard, the desired end result constantly.

There! She did it! She just touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and instantly the bleeding stopped. Then a voice boomed through the crowd: ”who touched me?” Jesus now turned facing her; his disciples surprised that He should ask the question with hundreds of people all around. Realizing He knew that it was she who had touched Him, she faced Him and acknowledged out loud to everyone what she had done and that she was healed. Jesus assured her: “Daughter, be of good comfort; your faith has made you whole. Go in peace” Although all sick people who had come to Him were healed, very few had the faith that she had, and Jesus knew this instantly. This woman received the healing she came for at the moment of her touch. Jesus, however, to reward her strong faith, went much further than healing her sickness. He declared that she was now also whole! That encompasses everything! Not only physical healing of one ailment, but also any other type of healing, like possibly her extreme fatigue due to the prolonged loss of blood, feelings of rejection, fear, and the depletion of all her finances. Every need she possibly had was met due to her faith!

Are you in need of a healing touch? Go ahead, speak out loud words of faith to yourself, like she did. Then, do not listen to the thoughts of doubt and fear and “can’t do’s.” Press in, reach out, and He will reward your faith!

Healing Scripture #26
Luk 14:2 And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

Luk 14:3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

Luk 14:4 And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go.

Jesus never feared a man, a power, or to display His healing strength. He will take you and heal you and let you go free. Will you begin to thank Him now for being the Name above all other names?

Healing Scripture #25
Joh 5:3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Joh 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
Joh 5:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
Joh 5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
Joh 5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Joh 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
Joh 5:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Note: There always has been and always will be a great number of people who need healing, in that you are not alone. God has and always will use different methods to heal, yet so few glorify and credit Him. This man waited 38 years for a healing. Would God make you wait that long? Jesus tries the sincerity of this man's heart. Is Jesus trying yours? Jesus proclaims him healed and whole. Will you glorify God for singling you out? Wilt thou be made whole?

Healing Scripture #24
Mar 10:46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

Mar 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Mar 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Mar 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

Mar 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

Mar 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

Mar 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Note: Bartimaeus lost everything in his life beside his eyesight as he sat begging for an income. He even cast off his last belonging, the cloak that signified him as a beggar as he cried out louder and louder to Jesus to heal Him. He trusted that He could. Do you have that kind of faith to give all up for a healing? Do you know with that healing your life will change so that you no longer have to beg a living? Bartimaeus had others try to silence him. Will you let others stop you from crying out to Jesus? Jesus plainly saw Bartimaeus' need, but required that he plainly state it to Him. Will you? Bartimaeus began to follow Jesus in the Way. Will you follow Jesus now wherever He takes you?

Healing Scripture #23
Mar 8:22 And he cometh to Bethsaida: and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
Mar 8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw aught.
Mar 8:24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
Mar 8:25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

Note: Will you be healed even if it seems impossible with your affliction? Will you accept a progressive healing and still glorify Jesus? Will you let Jesus do something very unconventional to get your healing? Will you keep looking up and beholding heaven's way of doing things?

Healing Scripture #22
Mar 3:10 (ALT) For He healed many, with the result that they kept pushing their way to Him, so that they could touch Him, as many as were having ailments.
Mar 3:11 And the unclean [or, defiling] spirits, when they would see Him, were falling down before Him and were crying out, saying, "You are the Son of God!"

Note: Are you one of the many that He will heal? Are you pushing your way to Him? Do you acknowledge that He is the Son of God? Even the defiling spirits knew of His miraculous power. Do you believe in the power of His Name?

Healing Scripture #21
Mar 2:9 Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? Mar 2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy), Mar 2:11 I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thy house.

Which would you rather have---your sins forgiven or your healing? Which will you need to be well enough to arrive in eternity? Do you believe that Jesus alone possesses this authority? Will He do both for you if you have your priorities right?

Healing Scripture #20
Mat 21:14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

Sometimes we have to go where we know Jesus is at. Is He at your church (temple) healing, or must you go to church that has the Holy Spirit power to heal present? Do you know of any Christian ministries that do heal? Will you go and seek Jesus out there?

Healing Scripture #19
Mat 20:32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
Mat 20:33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
Mat 20:34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Note: Jesus is asking you to be specific. What will you ask that He do to you? Jesus is moved with compassion at all sincere requests. Will you immediately follow Him wherever He leads you when you get your healing? Despite the crowds that oppose Him? Will you give Jesus your all for your healing?

Healing Scripture #18
Mat 19:2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

Note: Are you following Jesus? If you are you will notice large crowds gathering. His people know who He is and follows Him. He came to them and healed them there. You are never out of His reach.

Healing Scripture #18
Mat 17:17 So answering, Jesus said, "O unbelieving [or, faithless] and having been perverted generation, how long will I be with you*? How long will I put up with you*? Be bringing him here to Me."
Mat 17:18 And Jesus rebuked it, and the demon came out from him, and the boy was healed from that hour.
Mat 17:19 Then the disciples having approached Jesus privately said, "Why were we not able to cast it out?"
Mat 17:20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your* unbelief. For positively I say to you*, if you* are having faith like a grain of mustard [or, a mustard seed], you* will say to this mountain, 'Move from here [to] there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible to you*.
Mat 17:21 "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." (ALT)

Are we living in a perverted generation where we doubt the power of God today to heal? Do you have a shadow or mountain of unbelief? Have you fasted and prayed for your healing? In comparison to the powerless disciples who were commissioned by Christ, can you evaluate your faith and begin to be positive?

Healing Scripture #17
Mat 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
Mat 15:31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

Note: No disease was impossible to cure. No amount of people were too many to heal. People were bringing others and casting their paralytic bodies at the feet of Jesus. No disease was too far advanced. The crowd glorified God. Will you when you are healed? Jesus is the Great Physician, then, now and forever. Cast yourself at the foot of the cross where healing is complete.

Healing Scripture #16
Mat 14:13 And having heard, Jesus departed from there in a boat privately to a desolate place. And the crowds having heard followed Him on foot [or, by land] from the cities.
Mat 14:14 And having come out, Jesus saw a large crowd and was moved with compassion for them and healed their infirm [or, sickly] [ones]. (ALT)

Note: Jesus was grieving and wanted to be alone, yet He put aside His needs to heal people that sought Him out. He did it because He was moved with compassion. That is the Jesus we must know and follow. Will He not do the same for you? Are you following Him wherever He goes to beseech Him for your healing?

Healing Scripture #15
(Lamentations 2:13 ASV) What shall I testify unto thee? what shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? For thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?

Note: God is speaking to you, not just to an ancient love of His. Not all illness is from straying from His perfect will, but could it be a breach in your relationship with Him? Can you only be comforted and believe in His love if you are healed? When He says, "Who can heal thee," do you know the true answer?
Do you believe that was a rhetorical question? Who is it you have believed upon? Is it the Name above all names?

Healing Scripture #14
(Luke 6:7 ALT) Now the scribes and the Pharisees were watching closely if He will heal on the Sabbath, so that they should find an accusation against Him.

Note: Jesus did not care about timing, location, authorities, or religiosity. He healed because He is the Healer, moved by compassion. It does not matter if you are alone, or in a crowd, Christ Jesus can heal you without any hindrance. Do you believe He can? He will? Right now? Or do you bear prejudice in your spirit? Watch Jesus closely, with love and devotion, for Him to heal you.

Healing Scripture #13
(2 Kings 20:5 GW) "Go back and say to Hezekiah, leader of my people, 'This is what the LORD God of your ancestor David says: I've heard your prayer. I've seen your tears. Now I'm going to heal you. The day after tomorrow you will go to the LORD'S temple.

Note: Has God heard you prayers? Do you not that is plural? Has God seen your tears? Do you note that might be plentiful? Do you believe God says, now I am going to heal you. Can He? Are you going to the Lord's dwelling place, wherever that may be outside of your heart? (IE church, fellowship, etc.)

Healing Scripture #12
(Luke 4:18 ALT) "[The] Spirit of [the] LORD [is] upon Me, on account of which He anointed Me to proclaim the Gospel to poor [ones]; He has sent Me to heal the ones having been broken [in] heart [fig., who have become despondent within themselves], to proclaim deliverance to captives and recovery of sight to blind [ones], to send away [ones] having been oppressed with deliverance.

Note: See what Jesus was sent for. Not only to proclaim the Gospel, but to heal ALL manner of oppression. Are you in need of one or more or all of these healings, beside the physical? Do you believe the Lord holds your cure no matter what it is?

(Luke 4:23 ALT) And He said to them, "Certainly, you* will say this allegory [or, proverb] to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself-as many [things] as we heard having been done in Capernaum, do also here in Your hometown.'"

Note: No reason for you to look for another Healer. Can Jesus come to you where you are at? Are you receptive to His touch? His ways? His method?
